SEPATON CTO Miklos Sandorfi Speaker at Storage Networking World
MARLBOROUGH, MA -- April 2, 2008 -- SEPATON, Inc., the leader in enterprise-class data protection solutions, today announced that Miklos Sandorfi, chief technology officer (CTO), will be a speaker at Storage Networking World, taking place April 7 - 10 at Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida. SEPATON will also demonstrate its enterprise-class virtual tape library, the S2100-ES2, with Dot Hill Systems Corp. in Booth #209.
Mr. Sandorfi will lead an SNIA tutorial track session entitled "Growing the Green Storage Environment" which will take place on Monday, April 7 from 3:45 to 4:30 pm. This tutorial will describe the state of the green data center: why the challenge is very real, what technologies exist today to counter that challenge, and why innovative software that shrinks and streamlines storage is key. It will explain why space-saving technologies like deduplication and thin provisioning are crucial to achieving the green data center. These capabilities not only serve as the foundation for the energy-efficient data center, but also increase storage-related ROI across the board.
Mr. Sandorfi will also participate in a panel entitled "Not all Deduplication Solutions are Alike," which will be moderated by Arun Taneja, founder and consulting analyst, Taneja Group and will take place on Monday, April 7 from 4:40 - 5:25 pm. The focus of this session will be on helping IT users make responsible purchasing decisions rather than on bits and bytes. It will review data deduplication compared to compression; the various methods of deduplication and their pros and cons; how to determine which deduplication method is best for an organization and data type; what data deduplication ratios to expect; and how to evaluate data deduplication vendors and products.
As SEPATON's Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Sandorfi is responsible for the Company's product vision and roadmap. He has an extensive background in the development of enterprise-class storage systems. He served for more than a decade at EMC Corporation, where he was responsible for many technological advances in several product categories including client/server, mainframe and Open Symmetrix. Mr. Sandorfi worked closely with industry leaders to help develop the Fibre Channel protocol in its infancy, and was instrumental in bringing Fibre Channel connectivity to EMC products. Most recently, he was responsible for the FICON (ESCON-over-Fibre Channel) architecture and implementation in Symmetrix. Mr. Sandorfi has 13 granted and eight pending patents for inventions in SEPATON ContentAware, Fibre Channel and Disk Subsystem I/O technology space. Prior to EMC, he held positions at a leading nationwide computer rental and services company, where he developed corporate MIS infrastructure and software.
