SEPATON to Present at SNIA's Enterprise Information World

CTO Miklos Sandorfi Will Discuss the Evolution to "Intelligent" Data Protection and How to Prepare

MARLBOROUGH, MA – July 31, 2007 – SEPATON, Inc., the leader in high-performance data protection solutions, today announced participation at the Storage Networking Industry Association’s (SNIA) Enterprise Information World (EIW) conference during the week of August 6 – 9, 2007 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA.  EIW is co-located with IDG’s new Next Generation Data Center Conference.

SEPATON Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Miklos Sandorfi will speak on "Data Protection 2010: Building a Future-Proof Data Protection Strategy" as part of the Protecting Information track on Thursday, August 9 at 10:15 am.

"For years, tape storage was considered the only cost-effective mechanism of protecting a company’s data assets," explained Mr. Sandorfi.  "However, as service level agreements become stricter and new legislation mandates data accessibility, disk storage has become a commonplace component of a modern data protection environment.  Now, new technologies like data de-duplication coupled with modularly scalable, disk-based data protection platforms enable longer online data retention to meet regulatory and business Service Level Agreements cost-effectively.  On the horizon are "intelligent" data protection solutions that encompass advanced features such as search, litigation support, data shredding and automated archiving."

Mr. Sandorfi’s presentation will address what’s on the horizon to enable "intelligent" data protection and what companies can do today to accelerate the deployment of these solutions.

As SEPATON’s Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Sandorfi is responsible for the Company’s product vision and roadmap. He has an extensive background in the development of enterprise-class storage systems. He served for more than a decade at EMC Corporation, where he was responsible for many technological advances in several product categories including client/server, mainframe and Open Symmetrix.  Mr. Sandorfi worked closely with industry leaders to help develop the Fibre Channel protocol in its infancy, and was instrumental in bringing Fibre Channel connectivity to EMC products. Most recently, he was responsible for the FICON (ESCON-over-Fibre Channel) architecture and implementation in Symmetrix. Mr. Sandorfi has 13 granted and eight pending patents for inventions in SEPATON ContentAware, Fibre Channel and Disk Subsystem I/O technology space. Prior to EMC, he held positions at a leading nationwide computer rental and services company, where he developed corporate MIS infrastructure and software.

Mr. Sandorfi has a BS in Engineering from Northeastern University and completed an EMC-developed Executive Education Program in conjunction with Babson College.
